Blooming Oasis on the East Side

This east side garden is a true oasis in the desert, especially in spring when the white Lady Banks roses burst into bloom, spilling over trellises in a cloud of soft, delicate petals. The garden’s lushness stands in striking contrast to the arid surroundings, creating a serene and intimate refuge. Capturing the seasonality of a garden like this is one of the most powerful ways to document not just its beauty, but its ongoing story of growth and transformation.

I often revisit gardens during different seasons and lighting conditions to create a layered portfolio of images that reflect the full personality of the space. For this garden, early morning and evening shoots captured the soft light filtering through blooming canopies. Using a combination of wide-angle lenses to frame the layout and telephoto lenses to zoom in on pollinator visitors, I aim to convey both the big picture and the quiet intricacies that make each garden so deeply personal.

Whether documenting a garden’s initial bloom or years of evolving care, my goal is to preserve its spirit—alive, growing, and full of meaning.
